We have loved having holidays at Sandhills resort since 1987, when our children were still very young. We bought Cartref (a Granada XL caravan) after we had both retired. We wanted to offer our family seaside holidays when we ourselves were not using the van. We love the area and have enjoyed walks and trips all over Dorset and Hampshire in the years we have been staying in Mudeford. Our van is everything we need – a cosy, comfortable and quiet place to be. For me it is ideal as we are so close to the beach and can park away from the main road.
The master bedroom is spacious and has good storage space in cupboards and the wardrobe. It also has an ensuite toilet and washbasin, very handy for those of us who wake in the night! The twin bedroom is perfect for children or grown ups who aren’t more than 6 feet tall! The shower room is well designed and the central heating system is very efficient.
The kitchen area also has a good amount of storage space and the oven and hob work well. The living area is spacious and comfortable and the tall windows at the far end of the room allow in plenty of light, especially in the evenings.
The decking gets sunshine early in the day, perfect for al fresco breakfasts! The beauty of Sandhills is that no unit is far from the heated swimming pool and the club house. We enjoy watching the local wildlife (birds, squirrels) and hearing birdsong every morning in spring and summer is so uplifting.
We enjoy walks in the nature reserve at Stanpit and in the New Forest, which is close at hand – the arboretum in the Rhinefield Ornamental Drive is worth a visit, as are the spectacular gardens at Exbury. And, of course, the ferry to Hengistbury is a must for walks over the Head.
