Chewton Common Road, Highcliffe
This 18th century thatched cottage sits within a small community of beautiful historic thatched buildings beside Chewton Common, Highcliffe.
Horseshoe Lodge is a 3-bedroom detached home, over two floors, with its own private enclosed garden
.
The beautiful interior has been thoughtfully renovated to give all the conveniences of modern day living while keeping its original character and charm.
It can easily sleep 5 adults with 2 doubles, one of which can be arranged as a twin bedroom on the first floor, plus a double with king on the ground floor along with a single bedroom and shared family bathroom. Each bedroom has a small TV with DVD player.
The well-appointed kitchen has a washer-dryer, dishwasher, microwave, fridge, oven, and hob. Plus, a stovetop coffee pot and a grinder for your fresh cup of coffee (if you’d like an alternative to the great cafes close by).
The spacious yet cosy lounge/dining room has comfortable sofas, widescreen TV, DVD player, Naim wireless speaker for awesome sound, and a stack of family games, books and DVDs.
Guests can access the garage, where they can find a freezer and plenty of storage space for any bikes, surf boards or kayaks you might want to bring.
The cottage is located in Highcliffe on Sea, which is famous for its scenic stretch of coastline and very close to the New Forest National Park. A gorgeous sandy beach is within walking distance where breathtaking views from the cliff top take in a sweep of scenery, including the Isle of Wight and the ‘Needles’, Mudeford and Hengistbury Head. Magnificent coastal and forest walks make this an ideal area for those who enjoy the great outdoors, whether it is by foot, bicycle or horseback.
There’s a reserved parking space outside for guests, with more space in the streets surrounding the property.
The cottage has its own garden area with outdoor seating, and established trees and plants - making it a great outdoor sanctuary.
Central heating throughout.
As this is a thatched property, we are unable to allow use of the fireplace for safety and insurance reasons.
The property is strictly no smoking.
Activities: If you’ve exhausted the beach and exploring the New Forest, there’s plenty of other activities on offer. A round of golf can be booked at either Highcliffe Castle, Brockenhurst or Barton on Sea Golf Clubs. Spoil yourself and book a meal at one of the fantastic restaurants in the area or enjoy a pamper day at the award winning Chewton Glen Country Club & Day Spa. For the kids, there’s the dry ski slope, sailing activities at Mudeford Quay, and of course, lots of sea, surf and sand. There’s even a dry ski slope, a short drive away.

We wouldn't hesitate to stay again..
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
We had a lovely and very comfortable stay at Horseshoe Lodge for two weeks during November when we came over from Australia to visit family. There were three adults and two children in our party and the house was well equipped, with everything we needed to be able to cook, do washing and enjoy ourselves relaxing during this time. The beds were very comfortable and my kids said they were the best they had ever slept in! Despite the weather being cold, the house surprisingly stayed perfectly warm at night without the heating being on. The house is in a great location, walking distance to Highcliffe town centre and the beach and to get a coffee from our favourite cafe in town The Paddle. We wouldn't hesitate to stay again..

Probably one of my favourite AirBnBs in the UK. Such a quaint little cottage. Spacious, clean, comfortable (I slept in the super king upstairs - oh my, it was like sleeping on a cloud...), very well equipped. Lovely little secure garden (very handy for the doggies) even managed to sit out a couple of evenings with a beverage and snacks.
I'd happily recommend and would happily return again.

We would happily stay again in the future
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
We had a lovely holiday, perfect location for Highcliffe beach (which is lovely, and very dog friendly) and well placed for excursions to the New Forest and other nearby places of interest (Hengisbury Head, Mudeford, Bournemouth). The cottage was great in the hot weather (as it stayed cool) and we enjoyed eating out in the garden. The beds are super comfy! There are some lovely areas very close by to the walk the dog (ie Chewton Common nature reserve) and we also enjoyed local restaurants (particular shout outs to the Three Tuns in Bransgore and Cliff House in Barton on Sea). We would happily stay again in the future.

We like to say thank you to Ian and the team. The cottage was described perfectly and it was ideal for us a family, with a short walk to beach and amenities and was also a short drivinng distance for other areas of the New Forest and Dorset that we had planned. We would definitely revisit and stay at another time in the future. Kind Regards Rob & Laura

Excellent stay for a weekend away. Rustic feel but modern enough to be comfortable. It was both cosy and spacious and we enjoyed the location of the cottage with regards to both the New Forest and the beach nearby.

The Horseshoe Lodge is a great getaway from the city. Easy walk to the beach and if you have a car, close to lots of adventures - like the Jurassic Coast and New Forest. Clean house and facilities, plus comfy beds! Would definitely stay again.
Total bliss
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Cute cottage....cuter than pictures look. Tucked away. Some of the tech a challenge...for the middle aged. ;) Lovely location...Highcliffe Castle and gardens idyllic. Beach walks...Mudeford, Christchurch before the tourists..total bliss.
More spacious than it looks
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
We had a lovely stay at Horseshoe Lodge despite the pretty awful weather (became expert shower dodgers!). It's a cosy, comfortable and extremely well-equipped cottage and more spacious than it looks from the photos. We totally self-catered as we had a 90yr old in our party of 5 and there was everything we needed in the kitchen (so I needn't have taken down a lasagna dish and baking tray!) Communication was excellent and very friendly and the welcome card and gift a bonus. Thank you.
Highly recommended!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This charming lodge is just the perfect spot to explore Highcliffe and Christchurch. The cozy comfortable house is larger than it appears in the photos and is fully equipped with everything you may need. We had a wonderful stay and would very happily stay here again. Highly recommend!
Would highly recommend
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
A lovely and cozy property in a quiet yet convenient location. We woke up to hear bird song, but its only 5 minutes walk to a local Tesco Express. 10 minute walk to Highcliff Beach. Barbeque on site which we used in the cute little country garden. The kingsize bed was the most comfortable I have ever stayed in. Expensive 'loaf' mattress, egyptian cotton bed linen, and goose feather & down pillows. I know as I checked everything as I want to replicate at home!! The only slight negative is that the freezer is in the garage, the small larger fridge in the kitchen does not have a freeze compartment at all, but this is a very minor inconvenience. Would highly recommend.
Perfect hideaway
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Located near to local dog walks which was ideal. New forest and beaches. Dont know about my owners but as a two year old dog I loved it! Zelda the Goldador.
Cosy
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
We had a delightful time at Horseshoe Lodge, puppy friendly, comfy, cosy and tucked away, yet easy to trot down to the fabulous beach, go for walks in the common and grab a takeaway in the high street. We’d love to come again.
The cottage is so pretty

We have loved our stay, the cottage is so pretty and exactly right for us. I'm going to recommend it to friends and family,

Horseshoe lodge was just an ideal hideaway for us
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Horseshoe lodge was just an ideal hideaway for us. We had a dog with us and found ample local walking through the local woods or around the beach or nature reserve. The cottage was clean, well equipped and provided an ideal base for us while visiting the area for the first time. Although the current fuel crisis caused a few problems for others we had sufficient for our journeys and local travel and found the area charming.

Four of us spent a very enjoyable weekend at Horseshoe Lodge.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Four of us spent a very enjoyable weekend at Horseshoe Lodge. The cottage was clean and welcoming and I enjoyed the fact that it retained its character. It was very well placed not only for the Highcliffe shops which covered all our needs, but also for the beautiful Highcliffe beach, both of which are at easy walking distance. The person we dealt with from Mud Huts was friendly and flexible for which we were very grateful. We would certainly consider going back should we need a place to stay in the area.
We have managed holiday homes in the Mudeford area for over 17 years with an emphasis on quality.

For guests: this means you find the property as we would expect to find it.
