DESCRIPTION
Little Mooring is a homely, three bedroom cottage located on Fisherman’s Bank in Mudeford. The house itself has been in the family for generations, having been built in the 1870s. It was originally the village laundry and there are photos in the property of the many sheets drying in the garden!
Little Mooring is a much loved and ‘well used’ home. The property has an open living area with sofas and a dining table and, over the years, many happy hours have been spent around the table enjoying family get togethers. The wood burning stove makes a cosy addition; lovely to sit around after an active day out on the water or around the local area.
A patio door leads out to the garden. There is a downstairs shower room and the well-equipped kitchen also has views over the garden. The kitchen has an electric cooker and hob, fridge/freezer, microwave and dishwasher.
Upstairs are three well apportioned bedrooms; the master bedroom has great views down the garden towards the water and so does the twin room. Both ‘doubles’ have king size beds and there is a family bathroom with bath and shower above.
The garden leads down to Fisherman’s Bank which overlooks the Christchurch Harbour SSSI (Site of Special Scientific Interest). Stanpit Marsh is an important feeding and roosting area for many local and migratory birds. Kingfishers, a white tailed eagle and, more recently, an otter have been spotted in the harbour. This is an ideal house for bird watching.
It is also home to a semi-wild herd of New Forest ponies who graze there during the summer months. We are very lucky to have a garden with direct access to the water and it is a very tranquil place to spend time watching the tide come and go and the sunsets over Christchurch Priory to the west.
The Cottage is ideally situated to walk into Christchurch or down to Mudeford Quay and Avon Beach and, if you have your own paddleboard or canoe, you can launch them directly from the bottom of the garden. There is also a side gate which allows access to the garden from the main road.
Around Mudeford there is a friendly and welcoming community and it’s a place where everything you need for a great holiday is just on your doorstep. The beach is close by and there are superb walks at Avon Beach, Stanpit Marsh and over Hengistbury Head. The New Forest is a short drive away.
