The Shed:
The Shed is named somewhat tongue in cheek by the owners' family as it is about as far from a shed as you can get. Whether sitting out on the decking with its clear view glass balustrade or in the comfort of the lounge you have stunning views across Avon Beach and the Solent to the Isle of Wight and The Needles; there is always something to watch at any time of year. When you talk about a property one of the most important factors is location. New for 2015, the chalet has it all from its prime sea front position to its proximity to such places as the beautiful New Forest, Bournemouth, Lymington and Christchurch. There is so much to do right on your doorstep or within a very short drive.
The Shed is fully equipped to a high standard with all you need to make your stay one of comfort and luxury. There is a dishwasher "so no arguments over the washing up!", separate fridge and freezer, microwave and extra touches like a built in coffee maker, Bose Sounddock and TVs in both bedrooms. You have private parking adjacent to the chalet so you do not have to haul your luggage and shopping far.
The Shed is based within the boutique Sandhills Holiday Park. With its historic main house and leafy grounds the whole ambiance is one of relaxing in the country but with the sights and sounds of the sea. The park facilities are available to all guests and include an adventure playground, family bar with Sky TV, heated outdoor pool, small gymnasium, pool table, launderette and mini mart store. Additionally there is free WiFi in the lounge and bar areas.
About the Local area:
Christchurch was a renowned smuggling town and 'The Shed' is just a short walk from the historic Mudeford Quay where in 1784 smugglers skirmished with Customs and Excise officers. So kids bring those cutlasses, eye patches and skull and crossbones, oh and a parrot if you have one!
It is still a working quay today with fishing boats venturing out most days so why not say hello to Pete on boat Deja Vu (SU21) and see how his day has been, or wave to him from your decking as he heads back from another successful day out. If you fancy testing your skills out and bringing the catch home yourself pleasure fishing trips are available directly from the quay, or we can help you organise in advance. There are many pleasure trips to be had or if you fancy a thrill then why not hang on to your seats on the Bay Blast rib ride.
The Quay is also famous for its crabbing from the quayside (crabbers quay!) and has a children's play park, fish stall, cafe, The Haven House Inn and a large green area which is perfect for picnics, ball games and kite flying. You can catch the ferry to Hengistbury Head directly from the Quay and visit its fantastic beaches and beach huts.
Christchurch harbour is a great place for watersports from windsurfing to sailing and the Highcliffe sailing club is based on the Quay. There is also an active RNLI lifeboat station which practices launching weekly so you are almost bound to see their rather unusual lifeboat launch and recovery system in action!
If walking or bird watching is your thing then you can do both without even getting in the car. Within an easy stroll you will find a nature reserve on the cliff top adjacent to Highcliffe Castle. If you fancy a little longer out then why not try the circular walk through Stanpit Marshes and on to Christchurch for a spot of lunch. Then take the Tuckton ferry from outside the Captains Club to cross the river, or walk over Tuckton bridge a little further on if the ferry is not running, and head across more picturesque marshes to the back of Hengistbury Head. From there you can skirt the inside shoreline, head up and over the top or use the beach as your route back to the beach huts and ferry home at the tip of the Head. Who knows, the Haven House Inn may tempt you with a thirst quencher before heading back to the luxuries of the chalet.Down at Avon beach, there is a café/restaurant, the Noisy Lobster, and kiosks serving fish and chips, coffee and ice cream. There is a shop selling anything from local/national papers to clothes and holiday souvenirs and even a bakery on site.
If you head out in the car then the walks available to you are endless with The New Forest on your doorstep and The Purbecks within easy reach. Easily missed and of particular note is the area around Keyhaven and Lymington and, in particular, the sea wall walk past the now disused salt works and the spit and Hurst Castle, which in itself is worth entry but make sure you have a few hours to spare.
Historically sailing and fishing are all part of the local heritage with such famous local sailing clubs as Christchurch and Lymington to hand. More recently wind and kite surfing have become extremely popular along with kayaking and paddle boarding. Don't worry if you have never tried any of these or do not have any equipment as Shore Sports base themselves in the harbour and are more than happy to help out.
About the area in general:
Christchurch - the sign says 'Where Time is Pleasant' and it's right. From the lively Monday market to the great shops and restaurants along the high street it is a great coastal town. It is a short trip in the car or by the Ferry that leaves from Mudeford Quay. Christchurch Priory is the longest parish church in the country and is surrounded by beautiful grounds, riverside walks and Christchurch Quay. The Priory is a must see and is steeped in history. The Priory contains the 'miraculous beam' said to be placed there by a carpenter locals believed was Christ himself.
The New Forest - a National Park situated on the south coast of England. The landscape is a mix of heathland, grassland, bogs and woods. Domestic animals are permitted to roam freely throughout the Forest. Visit Beaulieu Motor Museum, catch a ferry from the pretty town of Lymington to the Isle of Wight or just enjoy the many cycle trails, walks and forest villages.
Bournemouth - the famous seaside resort with miles of beaches, loads of restaurants, bars, clubs and great shopping. Just 9 miles away, it has so much to see and do.
Other Attractions - Alice in Wonderland maze Theme Park, Serendipity Sams, Go Ape at Moors Valley, TowerPark with its Multiplex Bowling and Splashdown Indoor Water Park, Paulton's theme park on the edge of the New Forest, the Bournemouth Oceanarium, Compton Acres, Poole Old Town & Harbour, Sandbanks and Brownsea Island to name but a few.

The Shed
Not the first time we have stayed here, and it certainly won't be the last. Our stay at The Shed was a delight and you would be hard pressed to find a better view.
The Shed is well equipped and everything you expect (and some things you don't - such as dish washer tablets) to be provided is, the welcome card and bottle of wine were a really nice touch.

The view was to die for and magical
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Our stay at The Shed was a fantastic experience. The view was to die for and magical.
The property itself was very well laid out and we were short of nothing. Very comfortable and mud huts were very generous leaving such things as tin foil, washing powder etc. when we have holidayed with other companies these incidentals are always removed
Great experience and we would love to return next year

Clean and spacious and one of the best views in Mudeford
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
‘We were very impressed on walking into the Lodge ( the one they call The Shed ! ) how clean and spacious it was and one of the best views in Mudeford. Lots of storage space everywhere and all facilities - just perfect. We also thought that the organisation, payments, checking in was so smooth without hassle. So good we’ve booked for next year !

A wonderful holiday experience
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
We have just returned from another enjoyable stay in The Shed. The location is ideal, facing the sea with the Isle of Wight in the distance. It is so relaxing watching the changing mood of the sea and the activities of the surfers braving the water. Being close to the beach and harbour is ideal for walking without the problem of parking; with a restaurant, pub and cafe within easy reach. The Shed has all you need for self catering and is clean and comfortable.
I would like to say a big thank you to Jane and Ian who are the perfect hosts and are on hand to provide help and information if and when needed.
A wonderful holiday experience

'Great location'
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Have just spent a fabulous week here with my husband and two children, a 3yr old and an 8mth old on the recommendation of my parents who have stayed here a couple of times. The accommodation was exactly as described with the addition of a bath useful for the boy's night time routine and as an added bonus great views over to 'The Needles'. The park felt very safe and was excellent for my 3yr old to ride around on his bike with no traffic. We made great use of the outdoor heated pool and the location of the park was within easy reach of the beach with a couple of restaurants and coffee shops. Would definitely recommend.

Fabulous accomodation
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The Shed a most attractive modern Lodge sited on the front line of the Sandhills Holiday Park at Mudeford in the County of Dorset offers self catering holiday accommodation for 4 people. As you enter the lodge you lmmediately feel the comfort, warmth and relaxation this accomodation has to offer, on further investigation you are impressed by the quality through out.
Out through the patio doors onto the veranda you are faced with stunning views looking over Avon Beach which provides an ever moving picture of people enjoying themselves on the beach and on the water, small boats going in and out of the harbour, the big tankers on the horizon, the tide gently rolling in and out,not to mention the stunning sunrises and sunsets.(who needs the telly). With a restaurant, pub and food super market close by this accommodation offers everything.
A massive thank you must go to the owners of this lodge for renting it out to people,it leaves you wanting for nothing,it is also supported by the property managers Jane & Ian who offer immediate assistance if required. Our stay at this accommodation was perfect. So easy to arrive but so difficult to leave.

I have been lucky enough to be able to stay at "The Shed" for several times a year for the past 5 years
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I have been lucky enough to be able to stay at "The Shed" for several times a year for the past 5 years as it has everything I need. The Shed is beautifully appointed. The sea and beach views are stunning and I still get the same buzz now when I arrive. Within walking distance is a pretty pub called "the Haven" set in the harbour alongside lobster fishing nets and families can be seen crabbing nearby. Little local ferries take you the short distance to other beaches etc. The popular Restaurant called "The Noisy Lobster" is also a short stroll. Even in
the winter you are cosy and there is lots to watch such as water sports and various boats entering the harbour. I feel very lucky to have found this lodge - Many thanks to the owners

We have stayed at Sandhills for many years and this has been our favourite lodge, already booked for next year!!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
What can we say, perfect location and perfect accommodation. The Shed was spotlessly clean and very well equipped. A welcome bottle of wine and a welcome card was a really nice touch. We have stayed at Sandhills for many years and this has been our favourite lodge, already booked for next year!! Highly recommend The Shed.

Would I recommend, have already booked for 2022, so yes!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This was our second stay in this fabulous accommodation, it is fully equipped with everything you need to make it a perfect 'home from home' experience, albeit unlike home it has direct views across to The Isle of Wight and The Needles! It is also a great place to people watch from the comfort of the reclining sun loungers on the surround decking.
The site is well maintained with easy access to the beach and promenade with its restaurants/cafes. As added bonus there is allocated parking next to the chalet making it less of a strain with all that luggage.
Information and contact prior to arrival was first class with extra information regarding cleaning practices to cater for Covid-19 which gave peace of mind.
Would I recommend, have already booked for 2022, so yes.

Another fantastic week at 'The Shed'

Another fantastic week at 'The Shed'. Jane and Ian as always were very attentive and looked after us and The Shed was just as we remembered it perfectly positioned and has everything required for a comfortable stay. We can’t wait to return again in April next year.

Highly recommended accommodation with stunning sea views
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Excellent accommodation, very clean, well maintained and well appointed. Easy and secure booking and great communication with Ian and Jane. The park overall is lovely, always making improvements. Outdoor swimming pool is very clean and warm. Feels very safe for children. Location is stunning. Sea views and a short walk to either Mudeford Quay or Avon Beach. Plenty to see in the local area and a good base for days out further afield such as the New Forest and Portsmouth. Highly recommended and beautiful location.
A little bit of luxury overlooking the beach
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I stay several times a year at The Shed and the views and closeness to the beach are amazing. The luxurious way this lodge is presented leaves you wanting for nothing as it's all there. There is a Restaurant/Cafe and a pretty pub within walking distance, regular little ferries to local destinations and netting crabs for the kids is always popular on the quayside.
The most beautiful stay
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Where do you start? Instructions prior to our stay to the key safe was easy to follow. upon arrival there was a welcome card and bottle of wine which was thoughtful. The Shed was clean with all the appliances that you need whilst staying. The view from the lounge was just stunning! We had glorious weather and could see the needles daily in the distance. Anybody staying must book in at the noisy lobster which was delicious. Also we used the bakery next to the noisy lobster which was lovely. All in all it was perfect! we hope to return again soon.
Very comfortable accommodation in beautiful location
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The "Shed" is right by the footpath that leads from Mudeford Quay to Avon Beach and enjoys fantastic views across to the Isle of Wight. There is no traffic, it's a very peaceful and calm environment. The lodge is very comfortable and well equipped. Plenty of space for four adults. Parking right next to the lodge. Outside decking great for sunbathing and people/dog/bird/boat watching. Hope to come back soon.
Yet another great stay at The Shed
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Yet another great stay at The Shed.Everything you need is there from a lovely welcome to an amazing view. The club house is much better this year with entertainment (first time we've used it in 9 years).
Many thanks Jane and Ian, see you again soon

Perfect location, beautiful view, outstanding accommodation
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
My title sums it up I think. ‘The Shed’ is fully equipped with everything you need, maintained to an excellent standard. The parking next to the lodge is beneficial. The park itself is very tranquil and the pool is great. We love the walk from the quay to the beach and the fish and chips are the best we’ve had! The main reason we booked this lodge was the view, we already miss sitting out in the evening. We will visit again!
Perfection!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I booked "The Shed "for a three night stay with my elderly parents. I can only describe it as the best accommodation and location we have ever stayed in . The Shed was beautifully equipped with everything we could possibly need and it was immaculate throughout. The beds were so comfortable which was so important for my parents. The views were outstanding. We will certainly be booking next year ! Thank you Jane and Ian .
Fabulous accomodation
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Where do you start? This is a fabulous location right on first line beach with stunning views of the Isle of Wight and the Needles. Although the property is called 'The Shed' this could not be further from the truth. The accommodation was exceptional with all the little touches that made it feel home from home. Contact with the owners prior to arrival was easy and directions and how to access the property were well explained. Have already convinced friends to join us next year and are looking to book asap.
The perfect location
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The Shed is in an ideal location on the Sandhills Holiday Park. The views are outstanding and you are only a short walk to Avon Beach and the Harbour. You can do as much or as little as you want, but you are sure to get a relaxing, peaceful stay. Christchurch, Lymington and the New Forest are all within easy reach if you want to venture further afield. This is the third year in a row we have come to Sandhills and we have enjoyed every minute.
The Shed, Mudeford
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Our second visit to The Shed was thoroughly enjoyable (as was our first, last July). The accommodation was great but if I'm super critical the carpet was stained in places and the sofas had lost their comfort. The clubhouse seemed a little under staffed and therefore the soft seating areas by the pool were often untidy and the tables unwiped. The pool was a lovely temperature and the lifeguards were very attentive. In conclusion, although The Shed is showing signs of wear, I would be very happy to think I was returning next year.
Perfect Location and Accommodation for a family holiday
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
What a wonderful location, amplified by the amazing weather at the end of August. The booking process and communication with Ian and Jane was excellent. As a family, we couldn't recommend them and this location highly enough. The lodge has all the modern conveniences that you could need and more. The holiday park is well maintained and is a perfect base to set off for the day or to lounge around the pool or on the beach.
Absolutely love it
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
We have stayed at the shed on several occasions... would definitely be more if there was availability. This holiday home is faultless. Everything you could need and spotless throughout. Absolutely love it. Service from Jane and Ian at Mud Huts amazing. So friendly and helpful. Can’t recommend highly enough.
Heather from Southampton
How lucky was I?

How lucky was I? Searching for superb facilities and comfort with 2 doubles and 2 bathrooms but had to have uninterrupted view of the sea - anywhere. The Mud Hut provided everything I hoped for plus welcome wine! Perfect. Thank you Ian and Jane.
